Embracing the hope of Jesus' soon return in light of the Three Angels' Messages of Revelation 14, LEAD equips leaders worldwide to inspire and disciple Sabbath School members.

Sabbath School, the largest educational entity in the Seventh-day Adventist
Church.

Where We Directly Need Your Experience and Insights
Writers always find answers to many of their questions through studying issues of the journals for which they desire to write. General submission guidelines follow:
Programs: "A.M. Buzz": 500-550 Words. Query editor with subjects and direction.
Assignments are given to persons who can meet the challenge of writing interactive programs on topics of interest to 18 to 35-year-olds having the postmodern mind-set and the desire to be credible about topics on lifestyle and spirituality. Submission of two or more independent programs under a theme title is preferred. Query the editor with your desired subject, proposed titles, theme title, and two or three lines about your direction for each program.
Programs: "Talking Points" 500-550 Words. Query editor with subjects and direction..
Authors prepare programs that enable adult participants age 35 and more seasoned to explore personal spiritual growth, outreach methods, lifestyle issues, and current events in order to respond to them as credible, Bible-based Christians aware of modern challenges. Query the editor with your desired subject, proposed titles, theme title, and two or three lines about your direction for each program.
CLAIM: Lesson format for daily witnessing based on the Adult Bible Study Guide manuscripts provided by the LEAD office. Assigned six months ahead of local church use. Query the editor.
Conversations: Lesson format for young adults and postmodern thinkers based on the Adult Bible Study Guide manuscripts provided by the LEAD office. Assigned six months ahead of local church use. Query the editor.
"Hands On": 550-600 Words. Enables tactile-kinesthetic adults to address the current Sabbath School lessons in their learning mode. Authors draw from the Adult Bible Study Guide lessons provided by the LEAD office. The LEAD designer provides graphics. Assigned six months ahead of local church use. Query the editor.
"Front Lines" ON LINE beginning January 1, 2011: Training Reports, 700-750 words, 3 photos. Attach materials to an e-mail to the editor.
❖ Feature reports about conference Sabbath School training should be written in partnership with facilitators for conference leadership training. Submit in standard manuscript format: one-inch margins all around, single spaced, five-space paragraph indentions. Match the numbered lists of photo captions with the numbered photos.
❖ Training articles on proven leadership methods and skill-building applied to local Sabbath School leaders and/or administrative leadership.
"Local Church Profiles": Word document; 300-400 words, 4 Photos; 3x5 inch/300 dpi/jpg format. Attach materials to an e-mail to the editor.
Sharing information about how local churches are fulfilling any one of the four goals of Sabbath School affirms the church members and inspires leaders and members in the worldwide church. Submit feature stories in standard manuscript format: one-inch margins all around, single-spaced, five-space paragraph indentions. Match the numbered lists of photo captions with the numbered photos. Attach document and photos to an e-mail to Faith with cc to Marjorie Chambers: mchambers@rhpa.org.
"Tool Kit": 500 words per page. Instructional and motivational articles for facilitators-teachers. Based on the Adult Bible Study Guide manuscripts provided by the LEAD office. Assigned six months ahead of local church use. Query editor with subjects and direction.
Photos
Feature story photos: 300 dpi, jpg format, 4” x 5”
Author Photos—light, neutral backgrounds; no patterns: head and shoulders shot (wallet size) is sufficient for general authors. Series author should submit a head-and-shoulders photo plus full-length shots for use on the magazine cover: facing forward, right, left, and seated edge of desk, on stool or chair with nothing in front of them.
Resources
Authors must supply authors' full names, full publication title (book, magazine, newspaper, etc.), pagination, or Internet link and date accessed.
Submission
All manuscripts (WORD documents) and photos in jpg format are submitted as attachments to e-mails to Faith Crumbly, fcrumbly@rhpa.org, with simultaneous Cc to Marjorie Chambers, mchambers@rhpa.org.
Rights Purchased
- The right to reproduce and distribute articles as part of the magazine.
- The right to publish such articles or excerpts of articles in LEAD promotional materials, including in SDA publications outside North America.
- The right to publish articles on online computer services and the Internet. Except Item 1, which is irrevocable, this agreement shall remain inforce unless and until, the author, shall revoke it in a written notice to the LEAD editor, Faith Crumbly, fcrumbly@rhpa.org.
- Authors hld copyright to their articles.
Payment
Writers share their passion for ministry and writing for the pleasure of worldwide exposure and service.
